Print and Editorial Pieces

Because everything starts on paper. It’s about how you make your users feel, and what is more memorable than the tactility of turning the pages of your favourite book.

Roots

The memories you hold created the person you are today. These are the roots of you. Roots is a book of short sentences which make a narrative representing memories most of us hold. It asks the reader to revisit these as they turn the pages of the book.

I chose milestones in my own life and aimed to communicate how that felt through different paperweights, tears, cuts, and sounds, using type delicately to create a poetic atmosphere. Paper offers the sensation of touch, feeling, weight, texture, and smell. As physical beings, we need to remember our need for physical senses. This piece was created with a range of light-weighted, unbleached 100% recycled paper.

The Four

The Four plays with space and type to create a visually interesting editorial piece that celebrates the ancient Gaelic festivals of Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain.

The year revolved around two main points; the first is the harvest since the Gaels were an agricultural society. The Gaels had in-depth knowledge about the alignment of the sun and stars, which had great significance for them. Their calendar was neatly divided up into four quarters, with a festival to celebrate reaching each one

Like trick-or-treating on Halloween, many of our traditions come from Gaelic folklore our ancestors would have been exposed to. What was their story? This book aims to entice people to recreate the sense of community the Gaelic people shared. Through knowing our past, we can understand the future.

Now for something a little more playful...

THE TWO HUNGRY DOGS

The two hungry dogs is a story about adventure, friendship, trickery & sausages. Loosely based on Hansel & Gretel, the two dogs set out in search of something only to be put away by an angry butcher, who they later tricked to lock her up and eat all the sausages in her shop.

Gathering materials found around me β€” paper, cloth, cardboard, brick, wood & photographs of my surroundings I built characters & an environment to create illustrations to accompany this quite odd take of the Brothers Grimm story Hansel & Gretel.

Pursuing a career in technology, yes - but I will always find time to explore and play with creative ideas and projects.

Above is a small sample of my personal favourites I wanted to share with you.
